ACT with Tact in Schools
In a recent Virtues Project Facilitator Training, participants were asked to write an ACT with Tact report based on a 6th grade student's report card which read:
Science B Art A History C- Civics D English A-
Here's an example of using ACT with Tact (Acknowledge for virtues, Correct, Thank). This format could be used in a student progress report, or could be given orally to the student and/or parents.
I acknowledge Sue for her love of art. It's really evident in her creative projects which are complete and always turned in on time. She has used determination in Science and worked really hard, even though it is challenging for her. English is obviously a real strength and she has great enthusiasm for this subject. Sue has read all of the assigned books, excelled in vocabulary, and finished all but one assignment. Sue must use her purposefulness and self-discipline in history and civics. She has several incomplete assignments. Her understanding will increase as she asks for help when she needs it and uses her time more effectively instead of talking with her friends in class. Thank you, Susie, for your joyfulness and friendliness. You are a great addition to our class!
